Back on track

So for the last few weeks, I’ve been a bit naughty. I’ve not been on plan and as a result it meant that I put on 2.5lbs. That’s not good and I have been left wondering if the plan had stopped working.

Was it the plan or was it me? Had I just given in to temptation and not done everything that I could have done to continue on with looking after myself and enjoy losing some weight.

To be fair, I did have a good couple of weeks where events meant that I could enjoy myself. It’s good to let go once in a while but it’s understandable why the weight went back on. It could have been worse I suppose but it was needed.

I’ve had a good week this week. I went to a class gig on Friday. A local band called Everyday Heroes had a homecoming gig at The Patriot bar in Crumlin. That’s near Ebbw Vale and if you don’t know where that is then it’s where they film “Ross Kemp in Afghanistan”. (Gag courtesy of Rhod Gilbert!)

It’s a great pub and the beer is really well priced. Thankfully, I had the car so I was driving. I was therefore on the Pepsi Max and staying clear of the syn laden nectar.

I’ve done quite a bit of walking. Alex and I delivered some Slimming World leaflets around the local area, then did the Thornhill loop.

We’ve walked Roath Park Lake and the Rec a couple of time this week too. Well, Alex is a runner so she’s run a loop before I even meet up with her!

I’ve been better with my food, even cutting down on the Hi-Fi bars from four boxes a week to three. I may need to change my portion sizes too. I did enjoy a meal out with the Mum on the weekend. That was nice but did include Apple Crumble and custard, one of my all time favourites. The rest of the meal was fairly on plan. Gammon steak (I even cut the fat off!), baked spud and some peas. Delish!

I’ve got a new favourite too. I’ve gone a bundle on pork meatballs. Simple to make. Get a pack of Sweet Potato and Butternut squash. Zap them in the microwave for about 5 mins, then mash them together. Add a pack of 5% pork mince, a load of smoked paprika, some mild chilli powder, garlic, pepper and a touch of salt. This will make about 12 meatballs. Put them on a tray and spray with frylight. In the oven for about 45 minutes and enjoy. They’re easy and have a bit of speed in them. Add your speed veg and a couple of boiled spuds or SW chips and bobs your uncle!

The scales of doom have worked out well this week with one thing and another. I’ve lost 4.5lbs this week as a result. The exercise has definitely helped me and Alex dragging me out to walk has been brilliant. I’ve lost the weight that I put on and another 2lbs on top.

Only another 2.5lbs to go to the next milestone and then it’s on to my initial target of 9 stone.

This time next month Rodders! 🙂
