Lockdown: Week Sixteen.

It was all going so very well. I’d been great. Losing a few pounds since coming back to Thornhill after leaving Mum’s.

I had managed a couple of walks, when the weather was lovely. Up to Cefn Onn Park and around Roath Lake and Rec. A couple of small wanders around Thornhill too.

Last week I was lucky enough to report a five pound loss. 19st 1lb. Fantastic I thought. Another small two pound loss and I’ll be back into the next stone bracket and I’m on my way!

Truth is

So I stood on the unofficial scales of doom this morning as it’s Thursday again. (I’d completely forgotten this and woke up this morning and thought it was Wednesday).

I looked down at the read out and did a double take. I really couldn’t believe what the scale read.

Now, I know that over the last few weeks, I’ve been having a bit of a fight with these scales. I’m not sure if they’re reading correctly. Sometimes they can be way off and producing a reading that just does not look right.

So when they told me that I had put on a whole stone in a week then I really have to question what I’m doing and how I’m doing it.

Yep, the scales said that I had gone up to 20st 1lb. Rather than losing the two that I thought I aught to have lost. It’s rocketed up by 14lbs.

Now I realise that this shouldn’t be the case and that there’s no way on earth that I’ve put on 14lbs. But I took the chance to weigh at my mum’s earlier today and her scales seemed to confirm it.

I genuinely feel pig sick about it. I have no idea where exactly I’ve gone wrong this week but I’ve wasted the last three weeks and have gone right back to where I was the week I came home from mum’s.

The Autopsy.

One thing I suppose I’ve not been doing and have really given up is counting my syns. I have probably been way up over my syns on a daily basis. Which will probably account for it. I will need to keep a food diary for the next week which I will publish here for those who want to read it. It’s likely to be a bit of a boring read as I tend to eat the same things over and over.

I’d like to build an app that I can list my foods and the syns in it. I suppose a spreadsheet will have to do.

I had a curry from Sainsbury’s on Friday. Some fudge on Saturday. A sandwich and some rubbish on Sunday. Monday to Wednesday, I have been good but 14lbs???

I need that curry but it’s absolutely baffling to me how I’ve managed to undo all of that good work over the last few weeks.

I intend to pull this around and get myself back on to the straight and narrow. I understand that the weather is going to improve over the next few days. I will look to get out and about for a couple of walks and will try to do some lengthy wanders.

I’ve always wanted to walk from Penarth to Sully and back along the coast path. Fingers crossed for some fine weather. If anyone wants to join me then I’d be happy for your company. 🙂

Thanks
Phil.
