Here’s where the fun begins.

Yet another week as passed and that is just so mental. We’re now in the dying throws of September and just three months to go until Christmas. I have no idea where this year has gone and just how crazy it’s been.

Mum’s journey continues. She has finally had her assessment and discharge meeting. It’s been decided that she needs full time care and so will be placed into a nursing home.

There’s a promising one in Ely that’s not a million miles away so her friends in Wenvoe will be able to taxi there to visit her. There were some others closer to me but they were looking at £1300 a week for her care. That’s nuts. This one looks good and it’s at local authority rates until the house is sold and mum becomes self-financing.

So, from here I have 12 weeks to sort things out and sell the house. I need to start making some lists and plans for what needs to be done. I suppose I need:

  • Solicitor
  • Estate Agent
  • Someone to take on Holly

Rooms to look at:

  1. Bedroom One
  2. Bedroom Two
  3. Living Room
  4. Dining Room
  5. Kitchen
  6. Extension
  7. Basement
  8. Attic
  9. Utility Room
  10. Garage

I need to ask mum what she want’s to decorate her room. She’s already asked for a few things. I’m going to put together a photobook of memories for her and once she’s settled in, I’ll need to clear the house and then get it sold.

The council will pay for 12 weeks and then it’ll be a loan, after that mum funds until the money runs out.

Thoughts and ideas are always welcome from you lovely lot.

Tales from the scales.

As promised last week, I did weigh myself. The news wasn’t good but that isn’t unexpected what with everything that’s been going on, it could have been a lot worse.

I do feel as though I’m going backwards. My jeans are feeling tight but they’re still wearable. My T-Shirts are still okay but I may need to go back up a size if I keep going the way I am at the moment.

So I know where I need to start from again. My week has been a bit crap and the grub hasn’t been great. No exercise either.

I’ll see how the next few weeks go. I may be heading back to Cardiff before long although I need to find a home for Holly before I leave.

I hope that Mum is settled by Christmas. That’s going to be very very different this year.
