Now’t doing again.

Hello Tuesday again. Don’t worry, I’m not going to say it!

Sorry that there hasn’t been a blog for a few weeks. It’s been a combination of fun times and a nasty illness that has kept me away from the keyboard.

So, the last post was in May and we’re well over half way into June so there have been a few weeks for me to catch you up on.

The first blog post should have been with you at the end of May.

I was out enjoying myself watching Gary Numan at The Tramshed. Had a good night but was a slightly disappointed as I was perhaps expecting to know a few more songs. They were all classics but mostly unknown to me. Shame really as when I saw him at the Student’s Union, it was a far better set.

I didn’t make it to Slimming World that week so I’m not sure how that week would have gone on the scales. I didn’t drink at the gig so that would have been a good start but I did have a meal out at The Queen’s Vaults. Fish ‘n Chips if I recall!

The weekend before that was a bank holiday weekend. We decided to spend an afternoon in The Bay. Blimey, there was a hefty hangover on Monday but thankfully, there was no work so that spared me a bit.

The hangover on Monday was one of the worst I’d had, however it was due to a lack of food in the previous day. I could hardly eat my roast dinner!

The week before last week.

So apart from the gig on Tuesday night, I did a little wander on Wednesday afternoon. Llanishen Reservoir is a good flat walk and I got two laps in over the space of an hour or so. I must admit that my shoulder started to ache again during the circuit.

I’m not sure what all that is about but it’s getting a bit annoying now. Not sure if it’s a posture thing or if there’s something else going on.

That was the only walk that I managed to get in that week. The weekend saw me off to my mates Stag Do at Flight Club. A cracking afternoon and evening, ending up at Fuel obvs!

Not such a bad hangover that weekend and I’m happy to report that the visit to Slimming World bagged a maintain. That really was as good as the week got.

I’d not been feeling great from about the Monday evening. I’d started to feel a bit of a tickly throat and I thought that something was developing that wouldn’t be great.

I wasn’t sure if it was a cold or something more. I bought some Covid tests on my way home from work on Tuesday and took one that afternoon. The test was negative so okay, off to Slimming World.

I was still a bit rough when I woke on Wednesday so started to do my shift. Thankfully, I only work until 1.30pm on a Wednesday. I got to about 11am and my eyes were like tonne weights. My head was thumping so I asked if I could use some flexi and finish a few hours earlier. My boss agreed and I was back in bed by 12!

I took the usual paracetamol to try and keep the headache at bay but nothing was working. I thought I’d better take another test…

Yup. Covid.

Bloody hell. I thought that we’d long seen the back of it. Obviously not! So apologies were given to those that I had been in contact with whilst incubating this little bastard and cue a week of isolating away from humans.

It’s now Saturday and I still have a bit of a cough so there is a bug still hanging around. I did take a test on Thursday which came back negative so I’ve been free of covid for a few days.

I’ve been asked to go out to see a tribute band this evening but to be honest I’m not really up to going out this weekend. I’m just going to stay in and watch some crappy telly. I’ve been recommended Ozark so I may give that a go.

So, I made it to SW this evening. My hopes for any loss have been dashed by the amount of snack food that I’ve eaten in the last week. My appetite has been up and down and as a result so has the food that I’ve been scoffing.

I expected a gain thanks to being ill so I was disappointed to see that the Scales of Doom registered a 3lb gain over the last two weeks.

It’s not a surprise to be fair so I shouldn’t be too upset by the gain. It is however something that I can do something about.

I need to watch what I’m eating and now that I’m feeling better, I need to get myself out for a walk or two.

I’m not 100% right and went our for a short walk to get some bin bags earlier and was only out and about for 15 minutes but it wiped me out.

I don’t know how I’ll cope with a lap of the reservoirs tomorrow.

Next time on Fatboy Slimmer…

There are all sorts of obstacles coming up this week and next. Friday, I have my friends wedding. I have to watch what I eat that day.

On Saturday, I’m heading to Bristol for a Skindred gig. That’s from 1pm so it’s going to be a very long day. I hope that I can do the day okay as I’m still not quite there with my health.

Tuesday next week is the Foo Fighters gig at The Principality Stadium. I will look to have a good day but there is likely to be a bit of drink and some silly food too. I’ll try my best to be good but that’s possibly another failure.

I then have another wedding party the following Saturday, then it’s the Election (please don’t forget to vote) and then The Manic Street Preachers in Cardiff Castle.

There are a couple of semi-quite weekends coming up in July and then Festival Season hits with three in the space of six weeks!

I have to give it the very best shot that I can do and make sure that I am the best that I can be on the days in between. I will let you know how I get on.
