Weight Loss Journey: Challenges, Office Indulgences, and Weekend Setbacks

Hello my dear reader. It’s Tuesday again and time to recount the week in an attempt to keep myself honest on this increasingly poorly titled weight loss journey.

It has been a fairly quite week for me but my food has not been great. I have slipped back into bad habits. I’ve had lots of cakes, crisps, sweets and beer in this last week.

I probably started the week on a bad one. I went for a Toby Carvery. While utterly delicious, it’s not the best way to begin a week of supposed dieting. Lots of veggies but slathered in gravy which would most definitely piled on the syns.

The meat would be fairly on plan, so long as the fat is trimmed off it. The veggies, carrots, peas and cabbage would be free. The spuds would be synned and the yorkie pud and stuffing would also be quite hefty.

Office Thursday.

So, this is my new office day and it means that I have to head over to the office in Swansea. A decent run out in the car every other week won’t be too bad.

This week was my first time in the office. It was lovely to meet up with the team as I’ve only ever caught up with them on team afternoon’s out.

I took a couple of packs of Welshcakes with me to offer round to the guys. Some Braces welshcakes that had salted caramel filling and others that had a raspberry jam filling. Only one of a dozen was eaten by anyone else on the team.

We also had a breakfast from Taco Bell that was probably massively high in syns too.

Friday and the weekend.

The weekend started again poorly. If I recall, there was a visit to Sainsbury’s and that was a case of end of the week crappy food. I did manage to get a bit of a walk in. One lap of Roath Park with Mandy and her grand-daughter. It was a nice walk only interupted once by a visit to the Ice-Cream parlour.

Saturday however was again massively poor. A trip into town and a game of darts at Flight Club. We started around 5pm with a beer at The Blue Bell, then over to Tiny Rebel for some food. Off then to Flight Club for a few more beers and some rum. Then into Fuel Rock Club for a final beer and another rum and coke.

Sunday’s hangover was not good! I didn’t get home until 4am and that was not a great idea, however it was really nice to see a few faces that I’d not seen for quite a while.

I did get around to getting a roast dinner done on Sunday evening but it was accompanied by a large pack of crisps. Really not the best of ideas to be fair so there was not a lot of expectation when I went to Slimming World.

The Tale of the Scale.

I knew that it would be bad news this week. I wasn’t expecting anything like a loss and that’s not surprising given the food that I’ve managed to stuff down my gob.

I was quite pleased that it was only a one pound gain as I felt that it was going to be three or four pounds.

Whilst I was pleased, it’s another gain and the weight is creeping back up. The last few weeks have been up by 1.5lbs and I really need to have a great week and that’s not going to be easy given that there is another festival on the horizon.

I’ve asked for an S.A.S (Slimmers Against Sabotage) form which I will look to complete every day this week or at least the next couple of days and when I get back from the Festival.

Next week.

It’s Beermageddon weekend. That’s a mix of death metal and booze based near Bromsgrove!

I will try to keep the alcohol consumption down but you can almost guarantee that as we’ll be indoors and no doubt sat down then there will be quite a bit drunk. We’ll get there around midday and will set up.  There won’t be as much walking as there was at Bloodstock as the area isn’t as big. It may be a good thing to go for a wander around the area.

There’s a canal that runs along the edge of the site. It may be good to go for a morning wander along the canal to try and work off a few calories.

It may not be as bad as I expect but we’ll see how it goes.
