OMG October.

Good evening. It’s another Tuesday evening in the land of slim. That means that it’s the next instalment in my quest to lose a bit of timber. Regrettably it’s not very good news this week.

So how is the last week gone? Well not great if I’m honest I suppose I did okay for most of the week although I did pretty much make some very poor choices again.

I’ve done a couple of walks this week only a couple that probably got me near enough the five miles that I said I do last week but I don’t think that it was enough to get me a good result on the scales of doom (registered trademark).

Last Week

So what happened then last week?

Wednesday was my afternoon off work I finished at about 1pm. I thought that it would be a good idea to go shopping and to get some bits and pieces to make a bolognese. My plan was to do a proper batch cook so that there was plenty of food for the week. I planned a few walks and I suppose that, at least having a plan was a good start.

The spag bol was also a good idea as I hadn’t really cooked one for quite a while. I decided that I would make half bolognese and the other half I’d turn into a chilli.

So I had been cooking for most of the afternoon lots of chopping and standing by the cooker peeling carrots and mushrooms and various other bits and pieces. I let it simmer for a few hours and while  waiting for it to finish up, decided to head out and do the Thornhill Mile, just up and down to the M4.

Thursday and Friday came and went really. I don’t necessarily remember now what I managed to do over those couple of days.

Thursday was my day in Swansea. We do tend to order out for lunch when we’re there and this week involved Subway. I should just take a lunch in or go to the canteen and make that choice. It was a late old day and had gone 6pm by the time I made it home. I didn’t really feel like doing much else to be honest.

Friday was much similar you know just got through the the working day and and that was it really.

The weekend

This is probably where the trouble really started.

I was going to Newport for an afternoon out and a gig later on in the evening. We decided to try a micro brewery in Newport called Weird Dad. They did some rather nice beers to be fair. We had a few in there and then decided to move on go and have some food. I had a rather nice fish ‘n chips along with another beer and then it was over to Le Pub to watch the gig.

So we got back to Cardiff after the gig. Then another pint and a stop in the Queens Vaults, then over to Fuel and then decided to head home via an Uber and a box of chicken and chips.  Definitely not the best weekend that I’ve had recently. So far off plan I couldn’t even spell plan!

Sunday was a slow day. The hangover was not brilliant but it wasn’t very bad.

I did a roast dinner with a lovely piece of gammon along with all the usual accoutriments including my favourite mashed parsnip and carrot.

Yesterday was very much another day. The bolognese was still flowing as well as the chilli with some baked potatoes. So foodwise it wasn’t such a bad day. I decided to have a bit of a wander after work.

It was a fairly nice day so I decided to do the loop, so up to the M4, across the top of Cherry Orchard Road then down to Thornhill Railway Station then another section through Lisvane then back up to the house. A distance just under 3 miles.

My shoulder was aching a bit after that but to be fair it was a bit longer than normal before it started to ache so it seems to be getting better but we’ll go from there.

The tale of the scale.

So, after this weekend, I was a bit aprehensive about facing the scales at The World of Slim.

I knew that I was going to have a bad day and it was a gain when I stepped on the scales of doom.

1.5lbs back on this week. Not great and I know that next week isn’t going to be much better.

Next week

So next week is going to be difficult.

I will certainly try my best to be as good as I can be for the next few days. I will go for a walk tomorrow afternoon. I’ll look to go a bit further than just up to the M4.

I will look to weigh my food and will again try to count and limit my syns through to Friday evening.

My weekend however will be a bit of a disaster. I’m going to Golf Fang for the afternoon and then a gig in the evening. I’ll also be making the most of the time celebrating the end of my year.

With the third anniversary of Mum’s passing then I WILL be having a beer or two and perhaps a bit of rum to remember her and thank her for everything she did for me.

I expect a gain and told Rob in group that I expect at least three pounds on this weekend.

Anyway. I shall see how I go and will absolutely let you know how I get on.
