I must admit that I’m absolutley miffed with myself this week. It’s been an okayish week and for all that I’ve tried to do this week the results just aren’t coming.
I’ve tried to get out and get a walk everyday this last week and looking back through my Strava feed, I’ve pushed myself to go out.
Wednesday
I had the afternoon off so decided to attempt a further walk today. I went from the house to Llanishen Reservoir and back up to the house. I managed to cover 4.29 miles in 1hr 16m. The walk gave me 8,112 steps. My shoulder started to ache as I wandered on the flat ground around the reservoir and it has been a bit achy ever since.
Thursday
Thursday’s tootle was after work. Of course it’s now dark by 5pm. Rather than go along the unlit green belt, I went just a litte further and crossed over to Thornhill Road via the estate. A shorter walk today, just 2.8 miles in 49m 21s. 5388 steps.
Friday
I don’t think that I did a walk today, however I did go to a concert in the evening. A fantastic evening hosted by Within Temptation. While I didn’t get out for a walk, my Fitbit tracked 8,634 steps. An incredible concert with some lovely company.

Saturday
Another walk with a slightly different route. I started the route doing the Thornhill Mile and a bit. I was wearing my Sketchers Trainers and I have had them for a while now. However on my walk, I started to feel like I’d gone over on my ankle. My leg started to sieze up and every step was getting quite painful.
I stuck with it and thought that I’d just walk it off. I discovered another route through the estate that took me from Heol Hir, across to Excalibur Drive.
My foot didn’t really improve until I got home and took the shoe off. After that, I had no problems at all for the rest of the evening.
I managed to cover 2.65 miles in 53m 16s. 5222 steps.
Sunday
My walk today was far shorted only 2 miles or so. There was a bit of a glitch with the GPS tracking and it was a far shorter walk. I wore the Sketchers again, just in case it was a one off but while it started okay, as I made my way around, it started to ache again. I had to cut the walk short and only managed 3894 steps in 38 minutes.
Monday
It was just a short lunchtime wander yesterday. I changed into my walking boots for this one and just got myself up Heol Hir and back down. 1.1 miles and 2126 steps in 19m 19s. My back was still aching after last weeks wander.
I’m being nagged by a number of people to get myself to the doctors to see if they can suggest what may be causing the issue. I will see if I can get an appointment to see if they can give me some advice or maybe even some physiotherapy to see if there’s any relief.
Today
Today’s walk was after I finished work and before I went to group. It was a repeat of Saturday’s walk but this time with the appropriate footwear!
No issues with my boots on. I did a 2 mile walk in 35m. 3870 steps so not great but a lot more steps that I would have normally done.

The Tale of the Scale

So, given all of the walking that I’ve done in the last week, I could be expected to have genuinely had a decent loss.
I stepped on the scales of doom expecting to see the numbers drop.
They stayed where they were last week.
Dammit.
Next week.
So this next week is again going to be a bit of a bastard. I’m off to that there London again on Friday. There’s a big gig on Saturday night but for two days it’s likely that there will be some beer and some / a lot of junk food.
Hopefully, there will be a load of walking perhaps to counteract the grub. I’ll try to keep up the walks. I am heading out to get a haircut tomorrow and off to the Swansea office on Thursday. I do want to do a short walk during my lunch hour when I’m there so will see how it goes. If I don’t get time then perhaps it will be a short Thornhill Mile in the evening when I get home.
Anyway. Wish me luck!
