Happy New Year

Here we go then. The first blog post of 2025.

Last weeks weigh in was very disappointing but to be honest, it wasn’t unexpected. A five pound gain over Christmas was not a shock considering the fantastic food that I had. Roast lamb was amazing although it wouldn’t have been very good on the plan. It did do for a couple of meals and one of the nicest shepherds pies that I have ever made. My god that was delicious!

Plus a certain amount of Mince Pies of course but I still have half a tub of the ice-cream that I bought to go with them in the freezer!

So far.

The first week of the year hasn’t been too bad. While it’s not a New Year resolution as they are always broken, I’ve tried to keep up the walking.

I’ve had some sort of bug since well before Christmas and it doesn’t want to sod off! So amount of paracetamol and ibuprofen is shifting it, however I have completed four walks and nine miles since January 1st.

I know it might not sound like much but my maximum walk at the moment is around two miles before my back starts to ache.

I’ve found a nice little loop around the top of Thornhill that takes about 50 mins to walk. I’ve started to add little detours to the walk that add a few more steps to the wander. As the year progresses then I’ll look to take more routes that will push my limits a bit.

Perhaps I need to take a 5 minute break half way round the walk and that might enable me to push the distance up a bit.

The tale of the scale.

After the week before I suppose I realised that I needed to do something to try and shift the poundage that I’d put on.

It is a bit of a job to get there but in the first week of the year I managed a four pound loss.

Still a bit of a way to go to get that Christmas weight off but if I can keep going then I should be able to shift it in the next few weeks.

Next week

The next week shouldn’t be to difficult although I have a weekend away coming up.

There will be a few beers but not much. As I’m going to drive then I will allow myself a couple of beers but will take a load of Pepsi Max’s with me.

I will look to keep up with the walks and hope to cover a similar distance this week, possibly aim for double figures in mileage.

I’ve batch cooked a chilli so will be looking to have that for most of my meals this week with lots of rice or baked spuds.

Anyhoo! Thanks for reading and Happy New Year to you all.
