As February Ends.

I had a good couple of weeks on plan over the last few months losing quite a bit of a few pounds really rather than you know any stones at all as yet.

This last week has been a bit of a slow week in terms of my progress along this path. I’ve had a good couple of days and I’ve had some poor days and that probably was why this week’s weigh in wasn’t as good as last weeks.

So the week started for me as it usually does last Wednesday. I went to the cinema again. I’d promised Mandy that we’d go and see the new Bridget Jones film.  We went and started the evening off at the local Toby Carvery. I had a nice meal and I was being quite cautious with my carvery. I didn’t have a Yorkie and had a lot of veg with a bit of gravy. I didn’t have a dessert so it wasn’t overly bad but I’d no doubt have over synned with the Carvery.  We went to the cinema to see Bridget, the second time for me in a week!

I must admit that I really did enjoy the film. Renee Zelwegger is still looking good at 55! But then so am I!

Making an Impact

On Thursday, my team and I undertook an “Impact Day” volunteering at The Meadows Wildlife Park near Caerphilly. We had a really fun day helping out there.

We started by mucking out the goats and the pigs then we put down some fresh bedding for them and then we helped by moving 4 tonnes of sand and earth into a new building that they have built as a reptile house.

Now that was quite heavy work pushing wheelbarrows up and down and after that was done we had a bit of lunch and then we had a an an animal experience with some parakeets and meerkats.

It was a lovely day but it poured with rain and we got absolutely soaked in the morning. I remember being woken up at 6am by a clap of Thunder and thinking that this isn’t going to go well!

While we were transporting the sand up to the reptile house, I stepped awkwardly on a piece of rock or something and did something to my foot. It’s not bad enough that I can’t walk on it but when I do, it is quite painful.

I’ll miss these nutters!

The rest of the week

I hope that the foot pain is just a bit of bruising and that it will clear up soon but nearly a week on and it’s still troublesome. I should be resting my foot and I’m trying to put as little pressure on it as possible. It has however had an effect on the amount of walking that I’ve done this week.

I have managed a couple of walks but haven’t done every day. Wednesday I did a couple of laps of the reservoir. Thursday was lots of steps around the wildlife park. Friday I didn’t go and Saturday I managed the Thornhill Mile.

Sunday was no walking, except for a tootle down to Sainsbury’s to get food for my lunch and then Monday evening I did get out and manage a three mile wander but my foot really ached afterwards.

Foodwise I could have been better. I suppose I think the the lack of walks, coupled with the Toby Carvery and a few beers on Saturday night is probably what did for me this week. Not in a bad way but not in a good way either.

The tale of the scale.

So, I knew that there was damage done to the plan this week. I had hoped that with the walking that again I would get back on to the downward trajectory.

After an amazing loss last week then I had every hope that it would be another loss but the scales said that I’d managed a maintain.

No loss but thankfully no gain either.

Still, I think I realise where things didn’t go so well this week.

Next week

So this week shouldn’t be too bad. I’ve a couple of nights out this week on Friday and Saturday. I won’t drink on Friday though so that won’t be too bad.

Saturday is the annual beer festival at the Student’s Union. I don’t plan on going too mad and will again try to take it at my own pace.

I’m looking to meet Cardiff Alex for a walk tomorrow evening and will try to get out on Thursday for a good wander.

Friday and Saturday are out of the picture but I will no doubt do a bit of walking on those days. Sunday could be another rest day and then Monday back out.

Wish me luck.
