Not the best.

Good evening it’s Tuesday and the weeks are flying past again. These weeks just go so quickly and it’s not been a great one this week to be fair. so I’ve yeah put on but I know why this time.

So, what I’ll do then, I’ll go through the week with you and let you know what’s happened over the last seven days or so and hopefully provided a bit of an insight for you but maybe mainly for me to sort out where things went wrong.

I think the one word that sums this week up is booze. Not great. ☹

Wednesday

So, my Slimming World week got off to a fairly decent start. My team did their impact day in Bute Park. We were clearing rhododendrons in some beautifully sunny warm weather (a complete change from today!)

Even though my foot is still aching. I know, I know, I need to get to the doctor’s to try and get it looked at. We walked and walked and walked and walked and by 12:30 in the afternoon I had done over 13,000 steps.

Fantastic start you think and I would agree, however by 1:30 all those steps were completely undone by a beer or two in the afternoon.

Disappointing I know. Perhaps I should have tried harder to stay off the booze but it was a hard job done well and beer was very well deserved.

Another issue was that I was in town and quite close to the market. Well anyone that knows me knows that I love a good market and one that sells Welshcakes is a good market.

Thursday

Quite a quiet day today. Not much on except work. I did get a short walk in after I finished work but it wasn’t the highest amount of steps that I’d done this weekend.

Friday

Friday afternoon was my team afternoon out. We we went to flight club and started at about 1:00 in the afternoon. I love flight club it’s darts, company, food and beer. You can guess where this is going!

I found myself later on in the evening about 7:00ish at the Boom Battle Bar singing Manic Street Preachers songs in a karaoke booth. Needless to say, I wouldn’t do that if I was sober!

Fair dues, I was home quite early that evening probably around 9:00 when I helped myself to some rather nice sausages that I was saving for the BBQ.

It was into bed after that and then a decent night’s sleep until not early early Saturday morning but fairly early.

Saturday

I didn’t really have any plans for Saturday except for my friend Alyn’s wedding party later on that evening. In the meantime it was late morning slash early afternoon and I found myself on the train to Caerphilly and to the annual food festival.

The town centre was heaving loads of people put lots and lots of lovely produce from various local providers and some not so local providers. I think I was quite well behaved I spent quite a bit of money on some artisan and quite delicious looking frozen sausages which I will save for a barbeque!

Well there were lots of lovely goodies to choose from I maintained quite a good bit of decorum by restraining myself from going to every single stall and buying up every single cake or goodie that I could possibly buy. However that did not stop a smash burger and some fries which didn’t really help my day.

The wedding party later on in the day was fantastic. Alyn and Natalie had a great day and we’re a bit tiddly to say the least by the time we arrived. There was some fantastic music provided by a an incredible local band and by the time the evening had ended, there were chips galore and some other goodies to take into account.

I ensured that I took the car so I was driving which did mean that I wasn’t going to have any more beer and would take the rest of the evening to ferry people about.

I think I’d hoped that I’d been pretty good on Saturday but the evidence really speaks and the damage has been done previously in the week.

Sunday

There was very little going on Sunday. There was a Grand Prix to watch this time in Bahrain but that wasn’t until later on in the afternoon. The weather was quite decent I should have gone for a walk from honest but I had a lazy day.

I did enjoy some lamb Shanks with some mashed potatoes and mashed carrots and parsnips. The crazy was pretty spectacular as well but minted gravy which was delicious but not the best on the Slimming World plan.

The Tale of the Scale

Of course, I was expecting a gain this week. Given the beer and the rediculous grub it wasn’t a surprise that the scales registered a 2.5lb gain.

Can’t say that I’m simply disappointed by this one. It’s more than disappointment.

I don’t seem to be able to hook up two losses in a row at the moment and that’s not good. I suppose that life still has to be lived and there’s no point in moping about it.

I’m still three stone lighter than when I started so it is working but I need to try and get my head back into the zone. I had a good February but it’s come to a halt again.

Next week…

So the elephant in the room is next weekend. It’s a four day weekend with a food orientated bank holiday.

Of course, the Easter Weekend is one for chocolate and a magnificent piece of roast lamb. Perhaps the way forward is to modify the roasties somehow. I’ll use less oil and perhaps coat them in an Oxo cube for a bit of additional flavour.

I am also going to go swimming tomorrow. I’ve booked in to Maindy Pool for a few lengths. Only an hours worth but it will be very interesting as I’ve not been for a swim in well over 20 years! I am at risk of being harpooned or sinking without trace but in lieu of a walk, depending how it goes then this could become a weekly thing.

I’ll report back next week.
