Good evening. It’s Tuesday again and as per tradition I have no idea where that last week has gone!
Of course, last weekend was a Bank Holiday so four days of very little action to be fair but we’ll see what we can do about recounting that for you in the next few paragraphs.
I’ve had a good week despite being Easter. I had some tasty grub and no beer whatsoever despite two nights out so I was hopeful that this week would potentially bring a loss at the World of Slim this evening.
So where do we start?
Wednesday
Wednesday is my half day from work and I finish at 1:30 in the afternoon. I then have the rest of the day to do what I like and last Wednesday, for the first time in quite possibly 20 or 25 years, I jumped into a swimming pool. I bloody loved it!
Not having been immersed in that much water for such a long time, it took a while to get used to being back in swimming mode. I was always a good swimmer when I was a kid and got all sorts of swimming badges, culminating in a 2000 metre swim. We were always in a pool one way as kids but in my adult years it just seems to have completely and utterly passed me by.
Because I’ve not been for such a long time it was difficult to get used to keeping my rather large frame from floating away. My neck and shoulders were a bit stiff after the swim because I don’t think I ever used those muscles!
I didn’t use my Fitbit as I wasn’t sure if it would if it was waterproof. I think it is so I will look to wear it tomorrow to track my swim. I didn’t know how many lengths that I’d done and the time in the pool was cut short as Stef didn’t make it on time as usual. I’ve booked in to go again tomorrow and I will endeavour to keep a track of however many lengths I do eventually swim and we’ll see how that goes against body magic for Slimming World.
I was quite worried that I would be stared at by the other patrons however strangely at that time and in the middle of half term the pool was empty. There were a few people in there but we ended up being the only people in there to swim so we had the pool to ourselves basically.
I’ve booked to go again tomorrow so you’ll find me at Maindy pool enjoying a bit of a dip if you need me!
Who knows, next time I’m in Scotland I may join Alex in a loch wild swimming….
….but maybe not lol!
Thursday
Must admith that I didn’t get up too much on Thursday. My foot wasn’t feeling great so it didn’t get out for a walk again. Unfortunately I think that it’s something that’s harming the potential weight loss.
I know I should be looking to get it seen to! However it was a quiet day and the last one before the bank holiday. I think that I was a bit tired from the previous days swimming.
I did sign up for Sky Stream and the kit arrived to get it up and running. I did have a bit of trouble getting it going though. It doesn’t seem to like my WiFi.
Friday

It was a quiet day for me I suppose. I did have the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix practice sessions to watch. I did end up going out on Friday night and went to a club night at Metro’s.
Didn’t drink so I took the car so that I wouldn’t end up tiddly. It was good to see Rich and Lorah for a few hours. Cardiff Alex came with and we had a good evening but the club night was not great. We all thought that we’d give it a second go but I don’t think we’ll bother going again in future.
We went round to Fuel but that was exactly the same as the club night and it’s getting depressing now. I suppose I’m getting old and I’m not at all partial to the Nu-Metal music that they’re always playing. It’s definitely not my era but the youngsters love it. When I say youngsters, they’re all in their 40s!
Saturday

Another night out and another night driving so no booze.
This time it was off to The Globe. A good little venue down on Albany Rd. Fury were playing. They are one of my favourite bands. Very good live having some incredible musicians and a fantastic couple of singers.
It was quite disappointing to see that they were the support band for that night, the main headliner was a Metallica tribute band “Metallica Reloaded”. They were quite good but the support was better.
It was the tribute bands tour and fury were invited as guests so I suppose that’s why they were supporting rather than headlining but they deserved a full hour and a half not just the 40 minutes that they did get.
However it was still a very good night with some lovely company and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
Sunday

The main event.
Easter Sunday always means roast lamb. I need to stop myself really ’cause it’s quite expensive but it is my absolute favourite.
My good friend Bethan came to enjoy the afternoon with me and I think that my cooking hasn’t killed her but I think she enjoyed it.
Sunday wasn’t too bad today weather wise it was a bit dull little bit overcast but I managed to get out in the morning and to cut the grass at the back of the house streamed all of the little bits and pieces away I made it look a little tidier.
Bethan has committed in a way I think to helping make that garden a little bit more of a garden she’s giving me some ideas as to how to get it into a place where I can enjoy sitting and where I can enjoy getting people around to you know coming up and have a BBQ or you know just you know sit and have a drink few drinks in the garden when the weather is lovely.
She is also committed to help me clear out the junk from the back bedroom. We’ve made a start going through some of the boxes and I need to get everything in the car to take down to the skip and just basically declutter it just get rid of it. It’s been a rope around my neck for 30 years and it needs gone.
The cupboard under the stairs is going to be the next one after that. Plenty of junk under there.
Monday
A second bank holiday and not a great one. As usual in the UK the weather seems to know when everyone is off. A lazy day but another box or two cleared out of the room.
I made a lovely Shepherds Pie from the left over Lamb and as usual, it was delicious. That was however the highlight of my day.
The Tale of the Scale.

Given that this was Easter Week, I wasn’t hopeful that there would be a loss.
I was quite pleased however when the Scales of Doom registered a loss. 1.5lb down so very happy with that.
I think that the lack of alcohol this weekend helped. The swim on Wednesday would have helped too but there has been a distinct lack of steps again.
I’m not sure how this week will pan out yet but I’ve been to Iceland and hopefully bought some good grub and Slimming World meals for the week.
Next time.
This weekend will be a quiet one again. I’ll look to do some more work on the back bedroom. There are a lot of photo albums and old photographs that don’t really have much meaning to me. I’ll clear out the photo’s from the albums and will put them in a box for the attic. I can dispose of the actual albums as there is no room for them now.
I will look to go swimming again at the weekend and I’ll look to get out for a good walk too. If I can keep the food to a good nature then there’s no reason why I can’t get another loss next week.
Onwards dear boy.
