It’s been a mixed week. Some great highs and some very extreme lows. I know that it may have contributed in some way in this weeks results but I really feel that the effort I’m putting in has been lacking and I need to pull my socks up.
The week started on Wednesday with another swim. Five weeks in and swimming has become part of my week now. I’m still taking it easy in the pool but I’m quite pleased with myself as I’m still going and 50 minutes in the pool is much better than none at all.
My foot has been feeling better but it has been aching over the last couple of days. I’ve been in the office twice now this week so far and those early starts are not helping me at all. I could bearly keep my eyes open!
Thursday was a good day until later in the day when I had some news about Mandy. I know, she will be reading this so not really sure how much I can say here but she messaged me from hospital and isn’t very well. She’s had a bleed on the brain and an aneurysm that could have killed her.
It’s been playing on my mind and I know that my mood dropped. I’d not been very productive in work as I was waiting for news from her. Thankfully everything went well and she’s now well on the way to a good recovery. It may take her quite a while to fully recover but I’m hopeful that we can go for a Toby Carvery to celebrate her getting better quite soon.
Update: I’ve been to see her today and she says she’s fine but it has very much taken a bit out of her. I suppose hospital isn’t the most relaxing of places but she should be released home soon.
The weekend lifted my spirits a bit though. On Saturday I had a cracking little road trip with Jules, Jonesy and Beth. We headed off to Usk, with the intention of ending up in Brecon.
Usk was lovely. Found a nice little Tap-Room and stopped for a beer. Thankfully this time, someone else was driving! We thought we saw the drummer from Skindred but we were mistaken!

We found Antur brewery on the outskirts of Crickhowell. A quiet brewery on an industrial estate. A delicious Amber ale in there. Very tasty.
Then on to Talybont on Usk. A place I’ve not visited in years. Always remember walking there along the canal from Brecon. Camping overnight and then treking back the next day.
Sunday was a bit of a rest day thankfully. I did very little. Made a roast chicken dinner that was just delish. Plenty of roasties and enough chicken for a curry and some for Ozzy as a treat! Although she does like to shout at me when she smells the chicken roasting!
Monday and Tuesday are now office days. I have to be up at 6am to get the bus at just before 7am and to start work at 8am.
I’ve decided now that the weather is better to go for a short walk during my lunch hour. I’m fairly certain that I can cover around two miles after having had some food. I managed 1.7 miles in just about half an hour this lunchtime so I’m sure it’s possible!
The Tale of the Scale.

The Scales of Doom were again quite kind to me this week. They registered a half pound loss again so that’s 3 stone 3.5lbs lost.
It’s going extremely slowly but I do only have myself to blame for that!
Next week.
So there is a slight problem. It was announced at group that the 7pm Danescourt Group is closing. There will still be a 5pm group but I’ll never be able to get to that one on time.
The closest group to me is at Llanishen Rugby Club but again, that’s at 5pm on a Tuesday. The other option is in Whitchurch on a Thursday evening, however I’m not a fan of the consultant. I suppose however that beggars can’t be choosers and that it’s likely that this will be the new group.
I’m off for a swim later and will probably look to join next month as it’s going to be cheaper to join than just go whenever. I may also be able to use the gym before the swim.
There’s a visit to Tiny Rebel for Cardinal Black’s Album Launch party and a beer festival on Sunday. I’m a bit skint so may give that one a miss but we’ll see how it goes over the next few days.
Let’s see how it goes!
