Bloodstock Festival 2024: A Tale of Fantastic Music, Food, and Weight Management (sort of).

Good evening. It’s Tuesday yet again and we’re another week closer to the end of the year! It’s the middle of August and it’s still raining.  But I’ve been away at the second of three festivals and the weather was fantastic.

This was my fifth Bloodstock experience and again, it was a fantastic few days. Full of beers, food and rather splendid music. I walked for what seemed like miles and my poor old legs really felt it this year!

After last weeks weigh in with a small loss, I was quite apprehensive about going to another festival. It’s not an easy thing to lose a bit of weight at one of these things. My intake was okay and I didn’t really hit the beers as hard as I thought.

There were many food stalls available through the arena. Surprisingly I didn’t frequent them and only used them four times across the weekend. There were noodles and fish ‘n chips, I had a portion of loaded fries and I had to try baked potato from Spudman!

The weather was fantastic although perhaps a little too hot! Sunday especially was really a case of trying to stay hydrated. Lots and lots of water and only a few beers later in the evening when the weather had cooled down slightly.

There were some amazing bands on stage this year. Some not so great but thankfully they were mostly amazing! I became a fan of some and was a bit meh about some of the larger bands on the bill.

I did see some of the headline acts but wasn’t really impressed by most of them. I suppose I prefer lyrics that I can understand. Growling vocals are okay but I don’t really think that I can take whole sets where all the lyrics are grunted then despite how incredible the music is then I’ll give it a few songs but then that’s about it!

My band of the weekend.

One band that did grab me was a band called Soen. They were the band of the weekend for me and here’s a track. Make your own mind up.

Tickets for next year go on sale tomorrow morning at 9am. I’m a bit worried that I’ll not be able to pick up the VIP tickets and I’m bricking it!

The tale of the scale.

So after all of the debauchery of the previous weekend, I was really expecting a huge gain.

I’d been well off plan with rediculous amounts of snacks, sweets, crisps, chips etc. So was really expecting that I’d have put on about three or four pounds.

I did however do about 62,000 steps over the course of the festival

So standing on the scales of doom, they only registered a half pound gain.

Not bad and I can’t be too disappointed with that. I must have sweat them away!

Next time

My week will start better than the last one.

I do have a night out on Saturday for a few hours. I think however that I will drive to save a bit of cash first and foremost but also to ensure that I don’t add extra syns in large amounts of alcohol.

I will also look to go walking and I’ll look to post photographic evidence to support that. I’m going to aim for at least a mile a day, possibly further.

I’m hopeful for a good week as I do need to concentrate on the plan and be the best that I can be.
