Start Again.

I’m sorry that I’ve been away again. It has been quite a busy month one way or another and I’m trying to get used to a new way of watching what I’m eating.

I’m still swimming. Twice a week and have started to use the gym before I go into the pool. The Fitbit isn’t tracking my swims properly but I’m still aiming for around 60 lengths per swim.

So, how am I tracking what I’m doing? Obv’s monitoring the daily steps and the swims via the Fitbit. Food intake however is done using Nutracheck.

After my last visit to Slimming World at the start of June killed my interest in “Food Optimising” I needed to find something else to monitor how I look at my food and intake. Combine that with the extra exercise that I’ve started then I realise that while SW allows free foods to eat as much as you want, you can still over indulge in calories that take you well over the recommended daily intake.

Nutracheck helps in the same way as the SW App allows you to scan barcodes but it goes further into the nutritional side of the food, not just Swips (Syns).

While it does’t link into the app for my scales, it does allow you to track your weight so since starting this new world, I’ve lost a good 9lbs and that’s in a month where there has been gigs, weekends away, beers and a lot of things that could not have been measured in a positive light unlike the world of slim.

I started at my last SW weigh in at 25st dead. I dropped nearly seven pounds off that in the first few weeks and my aim is to lose 1.5 to 2lbs weekly using the calorie counting method and hopefully a small calorie deficit will help me with this journey.

June

What an amazing month. Lot’s of walking. I’ve been taking the bus to work but taking the train home from the office just as an experiment to start with. As of this week, my office days are changing so I will be in the office on a Wednesday and Thursday. So I think that I’ll go back to the 1990’s when I worked at the AA in Cardiff and take the train to and from work.

They’re a bit more reliable these days and the journey time is only 15 minutes. Okay it’s a 15 minute walk from the station to the house but it’s extra steps that I wouldn’t have taken otherwise.

Alex was here for a few days and it was so lovely to see her. It was her birthday yesterday so I know that she may have over indulged as I had a hilarious text message from her earlier! However, she deserved it after her week. She’s off to Mexico with a group of her friends next week. I know that she’ll have a great few days all inclusive!

So this next week is going to be interesting. The change in office days may make a difference and I will need to see about changing my short day to Tuesday from here on.

I must admit that Monday and Tuesday in the office would be a better start to the week but let’s see how it goes. The office may be a bit quieter on a Thursday. I doubt that the calls will be though.

Anyway. I will try and remember to keep updating this page although it’s likely to be less regular than it has been in the past.

Next Week

A quiet week with an evening out at the end of it for Brett’s 60th Birthday. Swims for the week booked. It’ll be a different week and will take some time to get used to. A change of routine allegedly is as good as a rest.

Just got to remember not to go into the office tomorrow!
