Not the best.

It’s two weeks to Christmas and it’s becoming extremely difficult to stick anywhere near to the Slimming World plan.

It’s due to change in the new year with all sorts of friendly fats, extra dairy and fibre choices coming in. I suppose that it gives me a chance to start fresh in January.

Last weeks loss was very welcome but the weekend had put my chances of another loss in jeopardy.

A combination of lots of alcohol and food was probably going to destroy any chance of a loss this week. I’ve been grazing as well and that probably hasn’t helped.

I’ve been swimming twice this week but I’ve probably spent as much time in Sainsburys as I have in the pool to be fair.

Saturday was a good day though. We’d managed to get a good load of people out to go for a meal in the evening. We’d booked for 13-14 people and it aimed to be a good night.

We met up at the Head of Steam and I was there for a little bit of time before everyone else rocked up. I was quite worried at one point that nobody was going to turn out and thankfully I was proved very wrong.

We chose to go to a new Georgian restaurant on St Mary’s Street in Cardiff. We rocked up on time but our table was still occupied so there was a small wait while the previous party left and they tidied the table.

Once sat, a drinks order was taken and eventually our food choices were made. Then, we waited, and waited, and waited.

Two hours later and we’d still not been served our food. Not even offered a bowl of bread and butter for the table while we waited. I could have cooked the bread in that time!

When the food did eventually arrive there were dishes missing and quite honestly, it was very disappointing. Plates packed with pickled cabbage, not a large amount of meat and just a handful of fries.

It was so bad that we decided to head over to the Spoon’s on Womanby Street for something to temper the disappointment and financial damage of a Georgian rip off.

Will I go back? I don’t think so.

From Spoons, we headed over to Fuel Rock Club for a good old dance and a few rum n’ cokes! Soon enough it was 4am and time to head home.

Sunday morning and I was up well before 10am. I managed to stay awake through the Grand Prix too so I couldn’t have been that bad but as I had an early night, I didn’t really sleep that well overnight. That extended into Monday night and Tuesday when I needed to be up for work. Absolutely knackered.

Tuesday l broke my Mince Pie pledge and had some very stupid food. That will definitely account for this week’s result.

The Tale of the Scale

This week has seen a big gain on the scales of doom. Four pounds on which was a bit shocking. I didn’t think it would be that much.

Clearly there is a lot of work to do and a brain that needs get back into the correct frame of mind.

I think that I might need to write Christmas off to be honest and then start again properly when I get back from Scotland in the New Year.

Next week…

It’s not going to start well. A Christmas Team meal out tomorrow afternoon which I hope will be better than Saturday’s, then a Motorhead Tribute band at Fuel in the evening.

Saturday has an evening in Swansea for another gig but I am driving so I won’t be drinking for that one. A few Guinness Zero’s for me to enjoy Rites to Ruin and Adfeilion.

It’s also mum’s birthday. She’d have been 81 this year. I’ll put the tree up and will get the annual Poinsettia. I’ll also go to Wenvoe and put some flowers down on her spot in the churchyard.

The rest of the week may give me a chance to behave and try to shift a pound or two.

I’ll do my best to get a walk in and will book my swimming in too. I should consider walking down to the pool and walking back up to the house instead of hopping in the car.

I’m not sure what good it will do but if I can draw a line under this week and try again then hopefully it will get the New Year off to a decent start.
