So it’s a new week and it’s been a while since I last posted.
Sorry for the lack of posts but it’s not been a very good few weeks. I’ve been ill and quite far off plan.
It started off amazingly with a trip to Munich to see the mighty Skindred in concert.
I had my flu jab on the Wednesday before we went and just a few days before we were due to head out, of course I started to develop a cold.
I had now invested too much money in going than to give up and stay home.
We headed to London Heathrow and stayed at the Thistle Hotel overnight. It was an early start with a flight scheduled to leave at 8:40am. We were in the Terminal and drinking Guinness by 7am!
We travelled to the terminal by for me a never before used mode of transport! There are little travel pods that went from the hotel over to the terminal and that was very exciting. Cath was very excited by it!

The flight was delayed and we were kept on the tarmac for an hour while they queued for the plane to be de-iced.

The flight took about 90 minutes to Southern Germany and when we landed it was snowing! An uber between the four of us and we were at the Hotel where Alex was waiting for us. She’d already had a day in Munich and photos of giant leberkeurken were being bandied about!
It was a fantastic day. We explored a very small portion of the city before looking to go somewhere for food. Germany isn’t renowned for its quisine but sausage and saurkraut seemed to be the order of the weekend! Shall we say that it was quite lucky that the window in our hotel room wouldn’t stay closed!
The Germans do know how to do beer though. Many a Dunkel (dark beer) was drunk with a side order of giant pretzels. Absolutely fabulous. It was an all too short visit but I think I’d love to go back again for a longer trip and explore more of Bavaria.

The trip back to the UK was full of delays and when we hit Newport, the motorway was closed and we had to go the long way around.
I was utterly knackered by the time I got home and it was straight to bed for a well earned rest.
I’d been feeling a bit rough during the trip and getting worse as the weekend progressed. I had another sodding cold and even now two weeks later I’m still feeling it.
I didn’t get for a swim last week and did very little in the evenings. The weekend was a bit of a waste too and all I did was eat junk.
I’d had some bloods taken on the Monday after I got back so I expected the results to be bad. I booked in for a follow up visit and surprisingly my Blood Pressure was good, the blood tests were good too. Cholesterol normal, blood sugar also normal. I am apparently quite healthy for someone who weighs 24 stone.
I did get out to see Lacuna Coil at the Tramshed. A fantastic concert but that did involve food and a few beers.
The Tale of the Scale

I’d not been to SW for two weeks and was absolutely dreading going this evening. The last weigh in wasn’t great and given my frame of mind I was ready for a massive gain.
So I was quite pleased when the scales of doom revealed a 1.5lb loss. This pleases me.
I know that a lot of work is required and I think that I have more or less written December off, however I am still resisting the pleasure of the Mince Pie and will stick to my pledge of not having one until Christmas Eve.
Next Week
It will be tricky. I have a meal out on Saturday and that is likely to be difficult as the menu is very Eastern European!
There is likely to be beer too but hopefully it will be tempered by a bit of metal at Fuel.
I don’t want to get too rough as it is the last GP of the year and potentially the best of the year with three contenders for the title.
Sunday should be easier and I’ll be back into the swim of things on Monday and again on Wednesday next week.
I will do my best to manage my food and I’m trying to budget as best as I can for the rest of the month but it’s going to be so very tight.
I’ll let you know how I get on.
