So it’s been a great couple of weeks in the life of Phil. Not so great in the World of Slim however.
Christmas week wasn’t that bad to be honest as I did get out of it with a small loss, but the New Year and my trip to Scotland has piled on the pounds.
I didn’t weigh last week so between Christmas and this weeks weigh in, I’ve managed to put on 6lbs.
Scotland was magnificent. Lots of beer, chocolate and sweet treats did not help. So I now have to work doubly hard to get any sort of loss and I do need to have an incredible week to make me feel that I’m really working at this.

There was a shed load of walking while I was up in Scotland. We walked into the town center on a couple of occasions. There was a lovely walk around a chilly Callender Park. We also did a fantastic walk across the first Forth Road Bridge that was a bit wobbly as while it’s a quite a solid bridge, it bounced like a jelly when a bus went past us!
Since I’ve been back from Scotland, I had a day in the office, I’ve spent then the last couple of days scoffing my way through the Christmas leftovers. A gain was guaranteed this evening.
The Tale of the Scale.

So I have a few extra pounds to shift. No more chocolates and perhaps I will go dry for a few months. I will take the car more often and when the weather improves then I will go out and start the walking again.
2025 was a poor year as I didn’t concentrate on myself. I do need to get a bit more selfish when it comes down to it but I think that’s going to be a hard habit to break.
Slimming World has changed recently. There are more healthy extras and Syns are now called Swips. I suppose it’s to help their image and I certainly understand how it may take away the negativity people feel towards it.
Perhaps the plan changes and the New Year will give me a chance to make some changes.
Next week.

I’m at a bit of a crossroads to be fair. It’s time to start fresh and to try and stay on the plan.
Saturday is going to be a bit tricky as I’m off to a 50th Birthday Party so that will be one to try and stay good at. I’m even thinking about staying sober for the evening.
I’ve been for a swim this week and will get back into two swims next week. I know that I’ve said this every week but I do want to get walking again. Once Storm Gambleblotchet has subsided then I will get back out on the Thornhill Mile.
Wish me luck.
