This week hasn’t been a great one. Mostly on plan but there were days where I have really struggled to stay even close to the plan.
Had a fairly quiet weekend. I’m still feeling a bit rough with this cold. I was due to go out on Saturday but a combination of not feeling great and perhaps a bit of anxiety kept me firmly rooted in the house.
I was invited out to watch the Rugby with some mates in Ponty and was then going to go to a gig in the evening.
I decided in the early morning after watching the F1 to head back to bed.
I was up in time to watch all three games on Saturday and was quite pleased that I did eventually although it was a bit of a waste of money not attending the gig.
Sunday was another lazy day and a roast dinner! Again there was an early morning for the F1 race from China.
My senior messaged me to say that I could work from home on Monday as he was going to and there would be no one else in.
That meant that I could have an extra hour in bed on Monday morning but I realised that I had been stuck in the house for nearly a week and hadn’t gone anywhere. I decided that I would go in to the office and lucky that I did as I wasn’t the only one in.
It was going to be one of those days. I went for a short walk around town and stupidly ended up in the Central Market. I find it very difficult to walk past there without buying anything. I accidentally queued up outside the Cardiff Bakestones stall and accidentally bought some Welshcakes. Dope! I did share them with my colleagues but perhaps should have given it some more thought.
I was also going to catch up with Julian after work. We’d had a little falling out so it was time to clear the air. After 36 years it would be a bit sad to let that friendship fail.
A few pints were consumed and that perhaps was a bit silly but it was good to catch up and have a beer somewhere quiet enough to chat.
Tuesday I was back in the office. The weather has been improving so I thought I’d go for a walk at lunch time. I forgot to record it but it was a nice short walk. I ended the walk with a Tesco meal deal and perhaps that could have been something to avoid.
I took to the pool after work and tried to get a few lengths in. Unfortunately, the pool was absolutely rammed and after half an hour I’d only managed 36 lengths. I had to give up as I was starting to get annoyed with some of the swimmers and I think I may need to do three swims a week if I have any chance of completing my challenge over the next few weeks.
By way of an update, I went after Slimming World and completed 63 lengths. I don’t know if the Fitbit is accurate enough as I counted 60 but I did get a bit confused at one point!
The Tale of the Scale.

Again, there was no expectation for me to have lost any weight this week. Given the Welshcakes and some beers then there was no way that I was going to lose.
So I was quite happy when the scales of doom smiled on me and I lost half a pound. I know it’s not much but a loss is a loss.
Next Week.
I’ve got a gig tomorrow evening and then games night on Saturday. I may have a beer tomorrow but will be fine for the rest of the weekend. I’ll get my chicken to roast on Sunday and will get myself ready for the start of my big swim.
