As per usual, it’s another week gone! This time last week, I was recovering from a good weekend in Blackpool. This time it’s a recovery from a weekend in Swansea, St Davids and Aberystwyth.
Wednesday was my swim. I left it quite late last week so didn’t get to the pool until 8.30pm. It was a good swim with about six people. No Stef last week as she wasn’t too good after Blackpool.
I do feel good after a swim. I need to go more than once a week though. Perhaps it’s going to be best to join up as a full member there. £40 per month but as I’m spending £9 a time to go for a swim then it could be beneficial as I could use the gym too.
The weekend started with a bang! I drove to Swansea for the start of three days with Alex. I took the wrong turning and managed to get the car stuck in a very tight gap. On trying to extracate the car, I managed to scrape the front end on a wall.
The damage isn’t that bad but I may need to make a claim. I did take out paint cover when I bought the car but I’m not sure how long that would have lasted and if I’m still covered for it.

Hopefully the repair won’t cost too much to sort out. I called Kia about it earlier and they’re sending me some policy documents.
I’m also getting a Tyre Pressure warning. I think it may be a faulty sensor as Kwik Fit had a look at the tyres last week. Kia’s advice is to inflate the tyres to 35psi and keep an eye on the pressures. If the warning still pops up then to get in touch.
Saturday was a good day though. Started in The Cross Keys for a few beers in the sun and then over to Founders and Co for some cracking grub.
From there, it was over to Swansea Arena for the Manic Street Preachers. The second of two nights there and Alex had done both nights! (She’d also seen Supergrass in Glasgow on Thursday so this was her third gig in three nights! Top effort!)

Sunday saw us take to the road for a trip across to West Wales. A couple of hours from Swansea to St David’s. It’s still an impressive Cathedral and a beautiful little town. Ice cream was bought and consumed there and if you can I’d recommend a visit.
From there then it was another 90 minutes or so to get to Llanrhystud and our overnight stop. What a fantastic little house. A former fishermans cottage with ivy growing up the walls. It was fabulous and I think that I’ll be back there to explore the area again soon.
There was a lovely little pub at the end of the road and we ended up as the only patrons. Quite a nice meal and then back to the house for a stellar nights sleep.

Monday was a trip to Aberystwyth. I’ve never been there and it was a cracking day. Loads of flies however that got absolutely everywhere! We has a ride on the famous funicular railway to the top of the hill overlooking the town. It’s the second longest funicular railway in the UK.
A very nice breakfast at the top and then back to the car and a heck of a trip across the heart of Wales, through some spectacular scenery. Down to Bristol Airport and then home. An absolutely knackering drive.
A fantastic few days with some amazing company.
The Tale of the Scale.

So, again as you may expect, given such a lovely beer and food filled weekend that the scales of doom would have whacked the numbers upwards.
I’d been quite good on Tuesday but had been expecting a gain all day.
Thankfully, the scales had different ideas and registered a slight loss. Only half a pound but a loss is a loss and I was quite pleased that it was down not up or even a maintain.
Considering the huge slab of chocolate cake on Sunday evening then I must have done something right for the earlier part of the week.
I’m not sure if the swimming is helping but I’ll try to continue with that one.
Next Week.
So there’s nothing coming up this weekend that may throw me off track. I’ve got a swim planned this evening and I will look to get a couple of steady walks in. If the weather stays nice then I’ll perhaps go for another road trip and have a walk somewhere like the Wye Valley or up towards Brecon and Llangorse Lake.
It is a full week in work for me next week and again no plans so I’m hopeful that the next 7 days will give me a good loss.
We’ll see how it goes.
