May gone already…

I did try to write up a little bit of a diary to get the creative juices flowing this week but then I realised that it’s been three weeks since I last posted anything so actually, I have quite a few things that need to be imparted.

First off, the mum.

I had a visit inside the home on Saturday 8th May, Motorhead Day! I was granted an audience all PPE’d up with the apron, gloves and mask. One negative lateral flow test later and I was allowed to see her at a short distance and for no more than half an hour.

On this particular Saturday, things were a bit different. Mum had been seen by the GP as her stomach was distended. The doctor decided that mum needed to be taken into hospital for some tests and x-rays. She had a twisted bowel that was blocking her digestive system and filling her tummy. I got to see her for a short while but within a few hours she was being taken to hospital. She was in for over a week.

Of course with the hospital visit then I can’t go and see her as she’s in quarantine again. The last video chat I had with her, she was simply unable to concentrate on the chat. We had about 15 minutes but that’s been the only contact in three weeks. I’m hopeful that this weeks call will be better and that she’s feeling much chirpier since her hospital visit but I doubt it.

Hopefully we’re now in the final stages of the house sale. The house has been cleared and looks so different now that it’s empty. I’ve been feeling a bit low over it as it feels wrong. If mum has passed away then I wouldn’t feel so bad but she’s still with us and her entire life has been packed into a van and disposed of. I know that she’s not ever going to  get better and she’s not asked to have anything from the house.

I’ve asked for the cleaner to come in one last time and she’ll come in on Saturday to do a final clean for me. Hopefully we’ll be exchanging contracts on it very shortly and I can put that behind me.

Will let that go through and then will look to get the account switch completed. Move some money into a savings account and see where we go from there. Such a shame that the majority of the money raised has to go to her care. It’s about time that our elderly are treated fairly, especially at times where they need continuing medical care.

Update: We will complete the sale on the 4th June.

Me? Well, I’ve been up and down for the best part of this month. I have my second jab this weekend so I’ll be fully vaxed up. There’s an evening out on the cards this weekend as it’s a Bank Holiday. Although, I have decided that thanks to my jab I won’t be drinking this weekend.

Diet is absolutely non-existent as is the exercising. I did go for a wander around Roath Park with Alex yesterday which was nice but very much a rarity these days. It’s always nice to see her though.

It’s something that I need to get back into and with any luck, now that the weather is getting better then I hope that I will be able to go for a few more walks over the next few weeks.

I hope everyone has a good Bank Holiday and we should be basking in beautiful sunshine. That should be enough to raise the spirits.

Love as always. Bigpip.
