Lockdown: Week Fifteen.

Another week along in this very strange year. It’s three months since I last went into the office and I have no idea how soon or when I’ll be going back. It’s strange to think that we’re half way through the year and that in just a few short months later I’ll have hit 51 and it’ll be Christmas!

Mum hasn’t been good. She’s got another infection and it’s really causing her some issues. I saw her on Sunday last week and did some shopping for her. I’m still a bit worried that she’s not eating but at least we haven’t had a fall this week so she should at least be remembering to use her trolley.

So the last week has been a bit of a washout. I have been out for a walk this week. I decided to dodge the showers and walked around Roath Park.

So I managed it under an hour which wasn’t too bad for me. It’s been a lot longer in the past so I’m quite happy with the way that’s going. Next time I think I’m going to walk up Pen-y-lan Hill and down Celyn Avenue just to see if I can do it! Pen-y-lan Hill is a bit of a killer but no more than the climb up onto the Ridgeway at Cefn Onn Park.

On the walk, I bumped into an old colleague from the Tesco days. He was jogging and passed me in the opposite direction. He did a bit of a double take and smiled when he saw me which was funny. He didn’t stop though and kept on his run!

Next time I go, I’ve got to take some books to leave at the lending phone booth at the corner of Roath Rec. Remind me!

So on to my new addiction! Tea and biscuits without the biscuits. Genuinely, whoever invented these needs to be given an knighthood. The taste of malted milk biscuits is one of my favourite things (especially when they’re covered in chocolate!) I’ve been known to hoover up these biscquits in the past.

Now I don’t have to. Syn free (apart from a splash of milk) and so nice, I’ve ordered a load of boxes from Amazon!

The tale from the scale..

The last few weeks, I’ve managed to go back to as many of the old ways that I could. Ok, I’ve had the odd beer on our Saturday night Skype chats. I’ve had a tube of Pringles now and again but I’ve managed again to cut out the biscuits, the bread, the butter and the daily bags of crisps.

I’m on the boiled spuds, the beetroot (yum) and the chicken breasts. I’ve even (for the first time in ages) made a chilli! Oh, how I have missed my chilli!

Last weeks walks may have helped with this weeks weigh in. The unofficial scales of doom said that over the last week, I’ve lost 5lbs.

Slimming World have said that given the correct statistics, the groups will start running again around mid August. That should give me a few more weeks to try and get myself back to where I was before the lockdown began.

Hopefully you have a great week and remember, Yorkshire Biscuit Tea may be a lifesaver.
