A new hope…?

It’s been an absolute age since I last decided to commit my thoughts and doings to my blog. I think that the last post here was back in February and let’s face it, six months have passed and I have thought very little about my weight and life. I had no consideration for my health, physical or mental.

Work has been okay. I am back in the office for two days out of five each week. It’s a bit of a nightmare after two full years working from home. A 6am alarm call and a pain in the bum bus service don’t help at all.

It’s not all been bad. I’ve got a new reliable car, I’ve been to a few festivals and went to Belgium so I have done things, however I have not really been looking after myself.

Vroom…

So the car saga that I think was causing me stress last time we spoke has been sorted out. The Renegade was a lovely car and I had hoped that there would be many years of happy, worry free motoring. Unfortunately it was not to be. The car kept breaking down only minutes after I had collected it from the dealer. It had to go back and thankfully a full refund was provided for the car.

I have since bought a replacement.

Kylie the Kia

Again, she’s a yellow motor, a Kia Stonic 4. It has to be yellow as a tribute to mum’s first car, The Yellow Peril, a VW Polo that served her well for years. It has done a couple of miles since I got her and recently ferried me successfully to Belgium and back.  It’s nice and easy to drive with lots of sensors and things like reversing cameras so after about 8 weeks of ownership thankfully, she’s still in one piece!

The Love life…

So the love life is back to single again. It has been for a few weeks. It was always an on/off situation as far as we were concerned. This time it was a little more costly but it was Steelhouse weekend that for the second year in a row killed off any chance of it going any further.

I’d paid for three passengers on the ferry and a three person hotel room as she wanted to come to Belgium with me. Of course I was happy for her to come along as it would have been some company for me on a very long trip. As it was, she again broke up with me just after Steelhouse and I don’t think that I’ll hear from her again. I think she was seeing someone else anyway.

Gig’s and Festivals

So since our last chat in February, I’ve been to a huge number of gigs and festivals. Thankfully, we’ve had some great weather and some amazing gigs.

I’ve been to see the amazing Devin Townsend at The Royal Albert Hall. (Another one I went alone because a certain someone bailed on me). I saw Black Label Society in The Electric Ballroom in London and have a couple of gigs still to come in the Capital.

Rammstein came to Cardiff as did The Pet Shop Boys. Two of my very favourite bands. Two incredible concerts that were absolute spectacles in their own way.

Gary Numan, Florence Black, Thunder and Dub War are bands that I’ve been privileged to see this year and there are still more to come.

I’ve been to three festivals this year too. Days away to get out of the awfulness of the last 12 months or so.

Diet

To say that the diet has gone off the rails is a massive understatement. I have absolutely no idea what I weigh at the moment but to be fair, it’s going to be massive. From 10.5 stone lost, I think I’ve put about eight of those back on. I’m struggling again with almost everything. Lots of crisps, chocolate and takeaways. Beer and Rum have also made appearances.

Walking has completely disappeared. I did join the gym and went a couple of times with my good friend Jim. He showed me around the equipment there and how to use it. I know that my walking has ceased but I have done a few thousand steps over the last two weeks in Bloodstock and Belgium.

I do want to get myself back to Slimming World. I think that I need the guidance and the plan although at the moment, I may look to calorie count and see how that goes for a week or two first.

I suppose it’s a case of limiting the calories to say 2,200 per day. Seeing how I can try to do my best to bring the weight down. I also need to go back to the gym for an hour or so to see if cardio on the bikes and treadmill help. The Thornhill Mile should also give me a boost too.

I don’t know when the next post will appear here. I will try and continue this for as long as I can, even though it’s taken all day to write this one.

Wish me luck.
