World of Slim… Week One (again).

So, the first week back on plan and it’s not been too bad to be fair.

The menu has generally been good and my food choices on the whole have been wholesome. A good week on the low fat type of stuff. Lots of potatoes and I made a chilli and some of my lovely pork and butternut squash meatballs. That’s the first time for ages that I’ve done that!

One slight blip on Saturday when I went out for my mates birthday. It was hammering down with rain and there were loads of people in town. We went to Mowgli’s, an Indian restaurant that does some amazing food. A very delicious Lamb Curry later and a few pints later it was off to Fuel Rock Club and a good old fashioned boogy! I got home at 4am and was absolutely trashed. Sunday was a complete write off but I managed to stay off the junk food. 🙂

I’ve been watching the syns and counting them up. Saturday was a few hundred syns to be fair but the rest of the week was around 20-30 syns when I could have upto 35 syns in a day.

The lifesavers.

Hi-Fi bars
An absolute lifesaver and you don’t have to be a Slimming World member to get hold of a box or three! Iceland sell them and they’re a really good chocolate hit if you need them!

They are three syns each or you can have two as your healthy extra B choice.

Snack-a-Jacks
Crisps are my absolute weakness. Open a pack and they need to be eaten as quickly as possible and one bag is never enough!

Snack-a-Jacks are essentially rice cakes but with flavour. They come in a good variety and are four syns per bag.

Cadbury Delights (Salted Caramel Bars)

Oh my life! These are fantastic. They’re small nougat bars with a layer of caramel, covered in magic Cadbury Chocolate.

Four and a half syns of deliciousness. Well worth the syns when you’re sat watching a bit of telly after a long day’s work.

The result.

Down to the outcome of the first week of my latest run at Slimming World. To be honest I wasn’t really expecting much. I was extremely pleased to stand on the Scales of Doom ™ to find that in the last week I had lost 7.5lbs. That’s half a stone in my first week. So down to 26st 12lbs already.

Having done SW in the past, I know that the first week is usually a good one. The body is not yet used to the diet but it’s losing water from the fat cells. ( I have been using the loo a bit more often! )

I was able to get a t-shirt on that I’ve not been able to wear today so even at half a stone it’s enough to help me back into some of the clothes that I bought during the last stint at SW.

I’m not expecting much in the next week. It’s Steelhouse Festival weekend so that will no doubt involve lots of alcohol and very naughty food. There will be a bit of walking to do so hopefully I’ll be able to burn some of that off.

The weather forecast isn’t good so that might help with keeping the food and beers at bay. I may also decide to drink more non-alcoholic stuff too but let’s face it, it’s a festival.

Of course, I’ll report back next week and we’ll see how we’ve done.

Thanks for reading.
