Bloodstock – The Aftermath.

Many apologies for not putting up a blog last week. I was running a bit late and was getting ready to leave for a good weekend of beer, food and heavy metal (the musical variety of course!)

Bloodstock is an incredible four day festival at Catton Hall in Derbyshire. It’s four stages bring the best in rock and metal music from all across the globe. From Bay Thrash to Throat Singing Mongolians to the Church of the Cosmic Skull, it’s a fantastic event.

Even now I can still have phantom wristband syndrome and can still feel the VIP wristband wrapped around my wrist. (It was taken off on Sunday night!)

It’s a bit of an expensive festival. I’ve been going for five years now and it’s great to catch up with people that I really don’t see too often. I’ll scatter some video’s of the bands I really liked through the rest of today’s blog. Don’t worry, it’s not that heavy!

First off, the aformentioned Church of the Cosmic Skull.

The Church of the Cosmic Skull.

Grub and stuff

So for most of the week, my food choices were really very poor. Heck, it was a festival after all. There were loads of food vendors there. Everything from Bunnychow (Chilli served in a hollowed out half loaf of bread) to Yorkshire puddings filled with pulled pork, mash, stuffing and sausages. All extremely delicious and extremely full of calories.

However, to be fair I probably had a weeks worth of syns in beer alone over the first couple of days. Is it a bad thing to have a metal festival and a beer festival in the same place at the same time?? Well, perhaps if you’re on Slimming World it is!

Anyway, the next fab band are called Wytch Hazel and I reckon that these could play Steelhouse too.

The tale from the scale.

So what was the damage then? Looking back through the blog, Bloodstock week was always a gain and without exception, the scales of doom ™ registered a gain. Only 2lbs so not the end of the world but it knocked me back. I’m hoping that the next week will be far better and another loss would be great. 3lbs would take me over the first stone and that would be fantastic.

I do have another festival this weekend, however I am only going for one day and am driving there so it’s not going to interfere much with the plan for the next week. I am going to a album listening party on Sunday too but again I’ll drive to that one again.

So on to the third and final band from my faves, the previously described Mongolians. The band are called UUHAI (pronounced oo-hi) and it’s an incredible mix of metal and tradition.

UUHAI

Anyway. Thanks for taking the time to read my inane wittering again.

Phil.
