One down, a few more to go.

What a week! Had a good very lazy week off work last time out. Recovery from Bloodstock and then prepping for the next and last festival of the season for me; ArcTanGent.

Two of my very favourite bands played there on Saturday. The amazing Vola and the musical god that is Devin Townsend. The man is an utter genius and one of the most prolific musicians Canada has ever produced.

It was a good little festival but it could do with a few tweaks, at least from my point of view. I’d have a bit more seating and for me, the main stage should be open air. There were five stages, all under cover. I suppose that’s great if it rains but with an artist as popular as Devy, there were people watching from outside of the tent as they couldn’t squeeze in.

Of course being a festival, the food was very dangerous! I was the designated driver so wasn’t drinking but the lure of fresh Churos with melted chocolate sauce was one that I just couldn’t resist. Festival favourites Bunnymans Bunnychow were also in attendance. Half a loaf of hollowed out bread, filled with a lovely spicy chilli, topped with a bit of sour cream and garlic bread!

The Almighty Devin Townsend

The following day was no quieter as it was off to Fuel Rock Club for an evening with Phil Campbell and the B@st@rd Sons. Their new album is out next week and they held a listening party for their Patreon fans. They also filmed a video for one of the tracks off the album which I’ll post here when it’s released. You never know, I may be spotted in a scene or two!!

A very jolly evening without alcohol but I did sink two pints of Guinness (Alcohol free). Now this stuff is absolutely delicious. Tastes just like full fat Guinness but unlike the 11 syns per pint, the alcohol free is 3.5 syns a pint. It makes a difference from sitting there nursing a pint of diet coke. I may not get the morning headaches in future!

The tale of the scale.

So how did the week pan out being on plan? The scales of doom registered a 5lb loss this week, giving me my first stone off.  16.5lbs lost or to put it another way, 7.4kg or to put it another way,  a sperm whale’s brain!

The last few weeks have been very off and on really with festivals. I had a maintain and a gain in that time. but it’s been generally good to be fair. There’s still a long way to go and it will take a few more months to get there. I’m hoping to have lost another half stone before my trip to Falkirk later next month so I’ve got about three weeks to play with.

Have some Devin!

This week has been brought to you by the fabulous Devin Townsend. I thought you might like to hear some of his finest work.

The future… Ooohhh!

Coming up this week. I’ll be seeing Cardinal Black in concert at Chepstow Castle on Thursday and it’s a bank holiday weekend so three days off! There may be some beer involved or there may be more alcohol free Guinness! An old friend is in town for a few days so it will be lovely to head out to meet up.

Anyway. Thanks again for reading this oh so tedious blog.

See you next week!
