Another grey week in November

I did start to write my blog on Saturday morning although it feels as though it’s Sunday, but it’s Saturday morning! So here is my finished week in review:

Tuesday’s weigh in was good. 3 1/2 pounds lost. I was quite pleased with that.  Wednesday is my half day and I get an early finish from work. So didn’t do very much on Wednesday. I had a lovely chicken curry, which I used my new rice cooker. Thought I’d have a go with with a rice cooker after seeing one on Uncle Roger (A rather sweary Youtuber, not the rather nice chap married to my Auntie Rosie!) See if that makes any difference. It’s a lot easier. I suppose you don’t have to stand over the pot or watch it, it doesn’t boil over or anything like that. So that was quite a good little buy.

Thursday, I made my magnificent meatballs. (I think Uncle Roger would approve!) They were pretty good but I did something different with them this time. I put a beef stock cube in and I don’t think I should have! They weren’t as nice as previous ones. I think next time I’ll miss that out!

It’s a fairly simple straightforward recipe. You get bag of pre-prepared onions and a bag of sweet potato and butternut squash. Stick them in the microwave for about 5 to 6 minutes so that they soften. Mash them and stick in a tub with a pack of 5% pork mince. Put in a shedload of spices so there’s a mild and smoky rub that Sainsbury’s do, which is absolutely delicious. Put some smoked paprika in, bit of garlic powder, bit of pepper, dash of salt, and roll them into meatballs.

Stick them in the oven for about 45 minutes. Very straightforward. Have those with some air-fried chips which are nice and light and easy, maybe some beans then you know, depends on what you fancy really. Mashed potatoes are quite nice with them.

The new rice cooker

Friday night went out to the Three Arches for a meal. I haven’t been there since I left Tesco. Had a mixed grill, which was quite nice. Certainly not on plan, but I’ve not got any anything coming up this weekend.

Saturday, I was up at 4:00 o’clock this morning to watch the Grand Prix qualifying session and practise sessions. I’m not going out this evening. There is a gig on in town, but I don’t really fancy it. So I didn’t really bother. I had a lazy day watching the Daniel Craig Bond movies.

Sunday up early for the Grand Prix itself. Well, that was a great race I really enjoyed the Las Vegas Grand Prix, but it was straight back to bed because I was absolutely whacked! Two 4am wake up calls to get into this Grand Prix was an absolute nightmare, but it was worth it.

The rest of Sunday I did very little. I made a roast dinner. Nice piece of Gammon with some roast veg, some mashed carrots and parsnips with peas and gravy. That was really my entire weekend. A bit lazy but the weather was attrocious again.

Monday work. Dear God, work That was an absolute nightmare. More about that below.

So today, I’m not weighing at my usual group. I can’t make it there and then get into town to go and see the Prodigy. So I’m going to go to Llanishen Rugby Club where there is a group at 5pm. My friend Beth is coming to pick me up at 6 so hopefully I can make it down there and back. I probably won’t stay to the group but just weigh in.

It’s not been a great week work wise. I’ve sort of struggled a bit with the level of contact that we’ve received over the last couple of weeks. It’s been one of those where to be fair I’m not really happy doing the role I’ve been involved in for the last 12 months or so. I’m moving back to TPD in a couple of weeks so hopefully that’s my where my bread and butter is. That’s what I know. That’s what I’ve been trained in. That’s what I’ve done for the last 30 years. It should be a good move back.

I don’t know what the level of contact is going to be and it will still be using Messenger. I’ll be an SME (Subject Matter Expert) and my experience with the Messaging platform is something that will help because the new team leader and senior don’t have that experience. I should be able to provide them and the rest of the team with experience and guidance in using the system and getting the best out of their role. It’ll be an interesting couple of weeks and hopefully a good few months.

I am however open to offers and I’m looking elsewhere. The CV’s are out on Indeed and Monster. I had hoped that this would be my last employer and I was hoping that the next 11 years would be with them. I’m not entirely certain that it will be now.

The tale of the Scale.

I weighed this evening at Llanishen Rugby Club. Out of my usual safe space with the faces that I’ve got to know over the last few months.

Got to say that it was a very friendly group and I was given a warm welcome. I just went to weigh this evening and couldn’t stay around for the group but at least I know it’s there now and if I can’t ever make it to Danescourt then I can (if I’m not in the office and can finish early) go there at least to weigh and to maybe stay around for the group some time in the future.

Anyway, after what I thought was a fairly decent week, the Scales of Doom registered a…

…Maintain.

Oh dear. That’s not really what I wanted from the week. Okay. I need to work a little harder in the next couple of days. I may get some walking in as the weather does look a bit better. I know that Fiona will probably want to go for a couple of short walks if she can manage it. Saturday will be a lot of hours on my feet too so next Tuesday could be a better day.

And now for something completely different.

This week I have been obsessed by the possibility of a volcanic eruption in Iceland. I’ve had webcams streaming for days waiting for it all to kick off! It might but then it might not at all!

Next time on Fatboy Slimmer.

So what’s coming up in the next week? Prodigy tonight and then I think there’s a gig tomorrow in Fuel, Dead Man’s Whisky.

Thursday and Friday there are no plans for anything to disrupt the diet.

Saturday. I’m going to Wellington to visit Fiona and have an overnighter with her. That’s going to be a good one although it’s the Christmas lights switch on in Wellington so there may be some sweet treats to consume.

Then I suppose then that’s really it for this weekend. And again, I’m not planning on drinking, although I will take a couple of beers with me to go and have a night, Andy (Fiona’s fella) is an Aussie and he has grown up on a diet of lager! So it will be nice to introduce him to a few real beers.

I’ve got a Christmas box of Stay Puft porters from Tiny Rebel, so I’ll take them with me and we’ll have a share of of those. It’s just a taster, really. So that’ll be a bit of a laugh.

Hopefully it’ll be another good week. Hope you have a good week. Thank you again for reading this. pretty pathetic blog, but I do appreciate your interest and hopefully we’ll see some people out and about in the next couple of weeks or so.

Thank you.
