One month back.

It’s the end of January (near enough) and it’s been a month back trying to get myself on the right track again. Its tougher that it was this time last year and the year before that and to be honest I don’t know if I’m going to be able to keep this going.

The calorie counting is okay and thanks to the app I am staying within the given calories for the day (mostly). I did slip up yesterday and that may account in part for today’s results. However, I think I know what I’m doing wrong and it is easily rectifiable.

We’ve had an offer on Ty Pica. That’s good news. Not quite what we were expecting but better than the first offer and as the Equity Release folks are waiving the early repayment charge (£15k) it will make up for the shortfall. I’ve accepted the offer on Mum’s behalf.

I’ve not spoken to her this week. The Care Home didn’t call so I’m not overly happy with that. I’m looking forward to hearing from her this weekend so I can give her the news. Rosie rang yesterday though. She did speak to her and she just wasn’t with it at all. I’m not really expecting her to take anything in at all. 🙁

Exercise.

This week has been okay for the old wanderings. I’ve managed with the exception of yesterday managed to get myself out of the house and walking. I think I’ve covered about 15 miles and will go again after I’ve completed tonight’s blog.

Friday I stayed in and drank beer and rum again. That was a fun evening but all on my own again. Still the guys on the Twitch stream were on form and there was some classic music being played. A 3am finish didn’t really help but hey!

Saturday was a short jaunt on the bike where I managed to cover about 4 miles in half an hour. It took me an hour and a half to cover the same distance on foot on the Sunday but we had a few centimetres of snow on Sunday. That was fun but there were loads of people out. I stopped for 10 minutes to chat to a lady who was part of our Slimming World group but I got totally mistaken and thought she was mum’s friend who helped us with the Power of Attorney documents! That was embarrassing!

Monday and Tuesday were relatively short walks. Tuesday was in the pouring rain but I walked to the local B&M to get some Skinny Crunch bars. I’ve been spending a fortune on these! They’re exactly like the Slimming World bars but half the price. Around 75 calories per bar so well worth picking up a few boxes.

Skinny Crunch

Well worth looking them up. There’s a rocky road version which is slightly more expensive. 50p cheaper than Slimming World but EXACTLY the same with the missing marshmallows on top and everything!

Got absolutely soaked but worth it.

Weigh in.

So this morning was weigh in time. I was hoping for another one or two pounds off with all the walking that I’ve put in.

Nope. Two pounds on! I hopped on the scale three times just to be sure! Bugger it. I’m not sure if this calorie counting lark is actually all it’s cut out to be.

I’m wondering whether the fact that I’m using calories in my walks but perhaps rather than sticking to the original calorie limit I’m eating extra food because I’ve got those extra calories to use.

As an example on Sunday I had an extra 858 calories to use so I used 502 of the extra calories. Should I have just kept to the 2455 maximum amount of calories. I suppose that’s the area where I’ve fallen down and despite what exercise I do get then I need to remember to stick to the original calories and not to think that I can scoff more cos I’ve been out walking for an hour.

I’ll see how it goes this week and will stick to the limit that I’ve been set. Hopefully it will start moving back in the right direction again.

Anyway, this week’s blog has been brought to you by Gary Numan. Looking forward to getting my hands on this album when it’s released!

As always, thanks for taking the time to read this rubbish. Any thoughts on the extra calories thing then give me a shout!

Love
Phil. xx
