New year, same old me…

We’re two weeks into the New Year (near enough) so it’s time to count the cost of all the merry making over the Christmas and New Year period.

It’s been a busy start to the New Year in work and my concentration for all things diet have been so far from my mind that they’ve fallen asleep on the couch and just been left to get some shut eye for a few months.

The last weeks of the year involved a lot of Christmas goodies. The first few days of the New Year has involved lots of Christmas goodies on the cheap in Sainsburys, beers and food from some incredibly delicious parts of South Wales.

It’s not really been the greatest of starts to the year but will certainly get better as the year progresses. There are a number of birthdays coming up in the next week or so and perhaps I need to make better plans to cope with them. I think that I’ll take the car so that I don’t drink. That will save a calorie or two!

The tale of the scale.

The weeks over Christmas saw me put on three pounds. The last week saw me add to that by another pound and another half a pound.

I haven’t even considered tracking what I’ve eaten. This I suppose is a massive problem as I no doubt have been well over syns every day last week. I need to watch everything that passes my lips and account for everything. Weigh and measure it and mainly record it.

The plan.

A plan is always tricky to stick to as I never really know what’s going to happen. Who may drop by for an hour or two? Will we go out for food? Stay in? Nibbles and Netflix?

I definitely need to start walking again. The weather has been used as an excuse for so long. Even if it’s just the Thornhill mile then that needs to happen.

I have also decided to sign up and join a Gym. It doesn’t open for a few weeks but decided to do it and use it when it’s ready. I’ve not been to the gym for ages so I can combine that with the plan and it should help to get my fitness up and to give me a boost to lose the four stone that I need to go.

Besides. I want to use my bike and that requires that I lose a few stone.

So let’s slam the plan this week and see where it goes.
