The 54th year begins.

I can’t believe that I’ve made it through yet another year. It’s been a very good year however. I’ve been to three festivals, been to Blackpool, Leicester and away to Belgium. I’ve been to Scotland twice and to countless gigs.

None of this would have been possible if it wasn’t for the legacy left by my wonderful mother. Not only was it my birthday at the weekend but it was also a weekend to remember her life and how she shaped my life and sensibilities. Was she a good mother? She was an incredible mother and an amazing person. Her life was full of adventure where mine is really only just getting going.

It has been a good week however, especially with the last weekend. Saturday was awesome. Had a great day on the pizzle in Brizzle for my birthday. Train over for 1pm. Into the first pub for the Wales v Georgia game. By the time the game was over then I was about five pints in and that was only two hours into the afternoon!

We move on to the next pub that was literally next door! One of my favourites in Bristol, The Kings Head. A tiny little pub with a great little vibe.

The Motley Crew

From there, it was a bit of a walk! We hiked past The Thekla and Welsh Back, around the docks to find a pub called The Bag of Nails. It should really be called the The Bag of Tails as there are at least four cats that occupy the bar there.

From there it was to the Gryphon metal pub and then back to our first stop to watch the last of the days rugby.

Train back to Cardiff and then an hour or two at the Rock Club.

By the time we got back I was absolutely shattered. I’d not slept very well the previous night and I was up early so that I could go and put some flowers down for Mum on her little spot in Wenvoe Church Yard.

Sunday was quite hangover free surprisingly but I did decide to get an Indian Takeaway. Lovely lamb Byriani absolutley delicious!

So food has been a bit poor. Booze and a takeaway have been quite prevolent this last week so I really need to step up and get back on to the plan.

Tale of the scale.

So after a big weekend, the scales of doom did register another gain. Again, it was only a slight increase of half a pound but that does mean that over the last few weeks, I have gained a pound.

It’s been a job to be on plan over the last few weeks so I really have to try hard over the next couple of weeks to get to that 1.5 stone mark. I would love to get to two stone lost by Christmas and the New Year.

This week on Pip’s Spotify

A bit of Florence Black this week. Another fine Welsh rock band on the up. I’m sure that’s Dow Corning in the background!

Next week on Fatboy Slimmer…

There’s nothing that should derail me this week. No plans for the weekend so maybe weather dependent then a drive away somewhere for a little walk. I have a few miles to do to catch up on my Pancreatic Cancer charity walk.  I’ve done about 11 miles so far. Six of those covered on Saturday.

It’s my short day in work tomorrow so I’ll be looking to go for a wander in the afternoon so I can do a couple of miles then. I want to have a look around Llanishen Reservoir so I may head down there for a butchers.

Anyway. Thanks for reading my waffle.
