Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone and welcome to 2024. Sorry about last week, not having a blog ready for you but I was flying back from Edinburgh when I was supposed to be at Slimming World so I was a bit naughty last week and didn’t go.

The week before I’d put 3 1/2 lbs on over Christmas. I understood why and let’s face it, the nosh that I’d eaten over Christmas was certainly not “on plan”. It is as you know, wonderful, delicious stuff that is just genuinely gonna add pounds. I thought to myself, well you know it’s going to be a hefty New Year in Scotland so I thought well whatever I put on when I get back just work it shifting in the first weeks of the  new year.

Typical Pulp Fans. (And me!)

Scotland again.

So that’s my third time up to Edinburgh / Falkirk in 2023 and I gotta say what an amazing place this is. Everything about it is just incredible. I went up to see my friend and flew up from Bristol Airport via  EasyJet. The flight was slightly delayed on the way up and I think that I’m getting used to that now! It was a great few days with lots of beers, lots of lovely food, lots of great company and a shed load of walking.

On New Year’s Eve we saw Pulp in concert at Prince’s Gardens. It was absolutely rammed with people. There were so many people out and about in the city for Hogmanay. Far more than you would see in Cardiff. It was a really good gig too. I’m not a massive fan but I really enjoyed it. They must have done 50 minutes or so before New Year’s Eve celebration started and then they did another 40 minutes or so, the other side of the fireworks which were just spectacular. Who knew that Auld Lang Syne had so many verses?!

I suppose on my return I wasn’t too bad but then I did have a lot of Christmas food to dispose of and let’s face it I ate it all. My mindset was well, whatever I put on, I can take off. Yeah it might take me a few more weeks but it was sooo worth it! There were no real plans for the weekend but of course my friend said let’s go let’s meet up for a beer and I ended up in Fuel Rock Club at 4:00 in the morning again so any hope about a loss this week was definitely, definitely pie in the sky!

The tale of the Scale…

I was absolutely dreading stepping on the scales of doom last night. When I got to Slimming World there are a few more people in the group than normal. A couple of new signups which is always good to see I had a nice catch up with the Rob the Consultant and Jill, then it was time to step on the scales.

Well, I almost fell off them!

Despite being of the opinion that I was going to put on maybe 7 to 8 lbs this week it was a bit of a nice surprise to see that I actually lost half a pound and I have no idea how.

Clearly alcohol is good for dieting it must be!

And now for something completely different.

It could only be the last and first band that I saw in 23/24!

Next time on Fatboy Slimmer

So the plan for next week certainly isn’t let’s carry on the way I’ve been carrying on. I need to concentrate fully on what I’m eating and to review what I’m eating as well keeping a note of what is going in my mouth will certainly help for next week.

At the weekend I do have a birthday party to attend I’m I’m sure that it will be as devastating as usual but if I’m good the rest of the week then hopefully it won’t be as bad as perhaps I would expect it to be I keep an eye out on one a meeting and the amount that I’m drinking which is not likely to be great but given that it’s down January now then finances are a bit tight because of you know sort of six week gap between pay so you know it may be a case that there won’t be as much on the weekend because we gotta watch the old pennies I suppose.

I will also try and get out walk. It’s something that I’ve not done and I think that the walking through Edinburgh did help with the loss that had this week. The weather is very very cold at the moment but it is clear and there’s nothing stopping me really from doing the Thornhill Mile or even stop going a bit further. I know I promised last time out that I would make a note of all of my little trips and blog my walks so there’s visibility. I haven’t done that and I apologise. So for the next few walks, I will try my best to track them and post them so you’ve got something to see and to keep me honest!

Anyway thanks again for reading and I hope to have a good week with some decent results next week.

Have a good week I will catch you next time out.
