Oopsie!

Hello again.

It’s another Tuesday evening and of course that means that it’s another blog and that I’ve been to Slimming World again. I don’t know how many weeks I’ve been doing this now so since well I think it’s probably been about six months or so and I’m not doing as well as perhaps I could do.

There’s been a few hiccups along the road this week. I think the weekends out aren’t helping me at all. I’ve been out every weekend since the start of the year and it’s cost me, not just financially but in the weight loss too.

I need to look to reign it in a bit and perhaps concentrate more on what I’m eating and to move far more than I have done. I did go for a walk last week but it really wasn’t good enough. The simple reality is that it shouldn’t be too difficult to do this but for some reason this last week, I’ve just not been able to get into that mindspace.

I’ve had a bit of fun this last weekend. I’ve been planning another grand trip to Edinburgh at the end of March. However, it’s not just me this time. This time, I’m taking the gang with me. Jules, Dan, Alex, Cath, Linds and myself will be making the journey to the Auld Reekie.

Fforest Fawr Sculpture Trail

The week started well. I had a nice walk with Mandy around Fforest Fawr. Just a few miles from the house and a decent wander. Just under two miles and 5000 steps but then the weekend hit! Friday then Saturday were not great days to be on plan.

Friday I went to a gig in Frome, deep down in Somerset. I wasn’t drinking all night but  I did have a very nice burger and a pint. Saturday was another gig in town. I meant to drive but I decided that I was going to go and have a beer or two before the gig.

I met Birchy at 3.30 and we went to Pillars on Queen Street. Lots of businesses have come and gone along Queen Street. Pillars has been in the same place for over 50 years and it hasn’t changed a bit in all that time.

I had a magnificent piece of Cottage Pie, chips, peas and gravy.  My God, that place is a throwback! From there we went to The Flute and Tankard, a proper little ale pub for few beers. Then up to Fuel for a few more beers and the gig. There was a burger and more chips after Fuel. I’ve been snacking a bit as well, eating crisps and stuff that perhaps I shouldn’t have eaten. You know, buying a six pack of little packs of crisps thinking that’s going to be fine and then noting that you’ve eaten the whole bag in minutes so things like that I think have caused me a bit of a problem this week.

The Tale of the Scale.

So I was hoping for a small loss this week, even after all of the above! I thought you know, a pound maybe would be would be quite nice but then after the giddy heights of 4lbs off last week I wasn’t expecting to do that again but I thought at least it may be a small loss.

So when I got to Slimming World and stepped on the scales I found that it was actually a gain. 1.5lbs up.

Of course, I’m really disappointed about the gain but I suppose I shouldn’t really be disappointed about it because and after my behaviour this weekend it had to be expected this is disappointing.

If I’d tried harder then I could have got that small loss. 🙁

Next time…

So for next week, the plan is to do a bit of walking and I am not going to drink. I do have a gig on Saturday night in The Globe on Albany Rd but I will drive to the gig and enjoy without the syns of the demon drink! It may be back to Fuel at the end of the evening for a few hours but I may head home afterwards.

I’ve also done a batch cook. I’ve made one of my amazing spag bol’s. It’s full of veggies. Onions, carrots, mushrooms, sweetcorn, tomatoes, garlic and green lentils. That should hopefully help me with staying off the sweets and the crisps. I need to make sure that when I go down to Sainsbury’s to go shopping then I’m not going to pick nibbly things up.

We’ve got Edinburgh in about eight short weeks. I would love to be able to lose another stone by the time we go. Just two pounds a week would easily get me across the finishing line.

Wish me luck.
